The Man's Heart
Science fiction flash (very short) story
In those first moments when he was simply the embryo, silicate wires and clockwork pieces were inserted into the tiny beginnings of his heart ...
Just as with his father, the man's time was measured carefully for him before he was the man, or even the boy. And thus every step of life dances on, orchestrated to a set number of heartbeats.
The author was always fascinated by what could be contained in a brief moment. Produced for a flash (very short) fiction competition themed "Time," The Man's Heart is part of a suite of short science fiction, urban fantasy and horror stories by BP Gregory, each its own little maelstrom of human suffering and longing. It was first released in 2004 in G Wells Taylor's amazing ezine The Wildclown Chronicle.
